Tasting notes
"Black currant and violet notes on the nose, with a good dose of slightly charred oak, follow through to a full body, with fine tannins and a long, vanilla?colored finish. There's lots of oak, but also lots of fruit. Needs time. This is very chewy. Best after 2011. 6,665 cases made." James Suckling. 90 points.
Winemaker notes:
Red, maroon, dark, good intensity. Fruity nose with the back, fresh and ripe. Mouth much less wooded than usual in other vintages. Here, the wine gives up its fruit. It develops a soft touch and a slightly woody tannin in the aftertaste.
